In the context of pursuing the goals of the Plan for Gender Equality at the University of Primorska (hereinafter the Plan for Gender Equality at UP (adopted by the UP Senate at the 20th regular session on 15/09/2021, updated version adopted at the 9th session of the UP Senate on 23/05/2024, namely the goal: working conditions adapted to the needs of the individual, which enable successful coordination of professional/study and private life at the University of Primorska), we invite students to apply for a student work as babysitters for the children of UP employees and co-workers when necessary.
Work description:
Students who apply for this call and are selected will be invited for the student’s work as babysitters of the children of UP employees and co-workers when there will be a need to provide babysitting.
Babysitting children, aged from 0 to 10 years old, also includes:
- various types of animation for children, such as basic familiarization with the local environment, learning the basics of the Slovenian language, various didactic games, etc.;
- ensuring a safe and healthy environment for children and taking care of their well-being;
- promoting the development of the child's social and cognitive skills;
- if necessary, taking care of preparing meals for children;
- in the case of school-age children, help with homework and other school activities;
- promotion of good habits and other important behavioral standards;
- regular communication with the children's parents, adapted to the demands and needs of the parents.
The work will also be adapted to the requirements and needs of the children's parents, and will take place in Koper or, if necessary, in Izola or Portorož (locations where UP has its faculties).
Required knowledge and competences:
Students who will provide babysitting for UP employees, co-workers and visiting colleagues must meet the following conditions:
- they must be included in the study programs of pedagogic majors, or they must demonstrate provable experience with babysitting children;
- they must be students of at least the 2nd year of undergraduate study programs or students of the 2nd or 3rd level of study at the University of Primorska;
- must be able to communicate in English. Knowledge of other foreign languages is an advantage;
- they must prepare a short description of the proposed activities that they will carry out with the children during the babysitting them.
Time scope of student work:
The work will be carried out if necessary, depending on the realization of the visits of guest colleagues at UP, or depending on the needs of UP employees and co-workers to ensure the babysitting of their children during their study/work obligations.
Before starting work, the selected student will, in cooperation with the relevant representatives of the UP rectorate, adjust the short description of the proposed activities attached to the application, which he/she will carry out with the children during the babysitting period, namely in such a way that the activities will be adapted to the age and the needs of the individual child and his parents.
Payment:
The work will be paid according to the statutory rate for student work, namely: EUR 7.21 gross/hour, or by agreement the gross payment for an hour of work can be increased.

Interested students can submit their applications with an attached CV, a short motivation letter and a short activity proposal by 1st of October 2024 at the latest, HERE.
All received applications will be reviewed, and students will be included in the evidence of interested students and then invited to participate in providing babysitting when needed.
