UP personal growth: Self-advocacy

At the end of September 2023, the project entitled Integrated program of management of personal and professional growth at UP (abbreviated: UP personal growth), for which UP obtained co-financing within the framework of the public tender "Strengthening the role of career centers in the holistic treatment of students", will be completed. The project is co-financed by the European Union and the Republic of Slovenia within the framework of the European Social Fund.

The project is primarily aimed at the equal inclusion of all groups of students in lifelong learning activities and the provision of equal support for all students, regardless of their specific needs related to their personal circumstances. In this regard, UP recognizes several different special groups of students who need to be guaranteed equal treatment in all areas and offer them a helping hand and support according to their needs.

Self-advocacy is one of the possibilities of identifying needs and support, which is a form of individual engagement, with the help of which, on the one hand, it is possible to achieve changes at the level of society, and on the other hand, it contributes to the strengthening of the individual's self-confidence. At the same time, self-advocacy is also a lifelong skill, which is directed towards the effort to identify the educational needs arising from the student's special needs and the environment's response to them.

The UP Career Center invites everyone who would like to learn more about self-advocacy to join us at the workshop, which will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 2 p.m., in the premises of the UP Faculty of Education. During the workshop, self-advocacy will be presented by dr. Karmen Drljić.
