About us

Career center of the University of Primorska, Center for Lifelong Learning and Career Orientation (KC UP) represents, through close integration of social and academic environment, added value to the region. It also represents a holistic and necessarily support with study process and career orientation at the university and tries to realize a long-term goal which is increasing the employability of graduates of UP.

Activities of career center are intended to:

  • high school students, with a purpose of informing them about all the possibilities of further studies on the university (importance of early career planning and connecting between high schools and tertiary education),
  • students and graduates through providing support at shaping their career path, which is oriented in expanding their competences. It is harmonized with preferences of individual student and labour market needs (students are informed with possibilities of lifelong learning within UP in order to acquire additional knowledge and skills which are systematically recorded in student’ s competence portfolio),
  • employees of UP and
    broader social environment through identification of the most adequate students and graduates in accordance with employer’s needs, lifelong learning program offer and other forms of collaboration.

KC UP activities are:

  • integrated program of personal career guidance,
  • lifelong learning programs (workshops, courses, seminars…)
  • developmental and research activities in the field of lifelong learning and career orientation
  • Alumni UP: enhancing the role of graduates as the ambassadors of the university,
  • to place career orientation content in the ECTS system,
  • custody of Scholarship fund of the University of Primorska
  • marketing, informational and promotional activities


About the project
University of Primorska was selected at the call for tender published by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, for co-financing the upgrade of career center’s activities in higher education system in 2015-2020. Project is partly funded by the European Union under the European Social Fund and Ministry of Education, Science and Sport.

Vision: to establish a self-regulated and financially sustainable model of career development support at the University of Primorska.

Activities that are carried out within the project are:

  • individual and group counselling
  • career days, workshops and other forms of education
  • visits to work environments and presentation of work environments
  • contacts with employers, companies and entrepreneurs
  • Splet-išče (Career center’s website)
  • Information about job opportunities, labour market needs, scholarships, career, et al.
  • Good practices transfer
